R. Michael Walden joins the Los Angeles office after working with Nadel Architects.

John Portman: Art & Architecture, an exhibition featuring architectural projects, furniture, paintings and sculptures by architect John Portman, moves to the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center from July 20 to September 19.

Harry Wheeler estimates he has worked on more than 500 hotel projects in his 18 years as an architect. Since becoming principal and part owner of Group One, he has overseen such prominent projects as Kimpton Onyx in Boston and suite-level restaurants at TD Garden.

Architect Kevin Canes and interior designer Carol Rexhouse have been hired to complement and enhance the firm's hospitality and entertainment design service.

Jonathan Douglas focuses on large-scale leisure entertainment and hospitality projects throughout the U.S. and internationally. His design approach centers on making connections that inspire guests to engage with the property physically, emotionally and intellectually.

Thomas J. Czech was promoted to VP, managing principal of Leo A Daly's Las Vegas office. Czech previously served as the office's VP, director of operations.

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat has named John Portman, founder and chairman of John Portman & Associates, the 2009 Lynn S. Beedle Award Winner. The award was presented on Oct. 22, 2009 at a special awards dinner hosted as part of the CTBUH's annual conference held this year in Chicago.
