We want to discuss a very important upcoming trend in hospitality design we're sure you’re aware of--Universal Design. It's more than ADA; it's about design that accommodates all guests, regardless of their stage in life. It's about sustainable design too. We're so intrigued by this concept that we've decided to hold an educational summit this July to help our readers (and ourselves!) learn more about this burgeoning topic.

The eighth annual NeoCon East will be held Dec. 15-16, 2010, returning to the Baltimore Convention Center.

The inaugural InspireDesign, held this week at the World Market Center in Las Vegas, was a great idea, weaving a trade show-like event into the existing, permanent showrooms of the complex. There's also a plan to include educational programs, as well as make the event more of a community-building gathering and less like a traditional trade show.

The economy and the business of design were front of mind during Hotel Design's annual roundtable. Participants weighed in on how to source the best products for the least amount of money and discussed how the prevalence of stalled projects has made them step back and take a look at the business side of their firms.

In a country noted for their cutting-edge design and names like Marimekko, Aarikka, Iittala, and more, Helsinki Design Week 09 brings design within reach of everyone. The theme of this year’s festival, DO TOUCH!, is manifested in events that encourage collaboration between creative professionals and festival visitors.

A new world-class design show , INSPIREDESIGN, will be held in at the World Market Center in Las Vegas, February 1-3, 2010. This design initiative will fulfill a validated need in the design marketplace to showcase exemplary design, provide compelling top-level educational programming and create a community that will literally span 365 days of the year.
