Hospitality competition entries were judged by the editorial staff of Hotel & Motel Management, Hotel Design and Luxury Hotelier magazines, while design awards were judged by Jeff Ornstein, founder of J/Brice Design International and Dana Kalczak, Vice President, Design and Construction, Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts.

Leaving Las Vegas

Arriving in Las Vegas a few days ago for the HotelWorld Expo & Conference, I was taken aback by the profound changes this city has experienced since last year’s show. From the moment I stepped off the plane, the scenario was startling and unsettling. At the airport: open expanses of terminal space, a cavernous baggage claim area with rows of empty luggage carousels, and for the first time ever in my years of travel here, a no-wait taxi line.
