25-year hotel industry veteran and New York-based partner of Chartres Lodging receives Florida International Hospitality Award

Hospitality industry veteran and school alum Bruce Blum of New York office of The Chartres Lodging Group, LLC, will be honored today with the coveted Florida International University (FIU) Medallion for significant achievement in hospitality management.

The FIU Medallion will be bestowed upon Blum on Monday, Dec. 15, during the FIU Fall Commencement to recognize his lifetime of leadership and contribution to the hospitality industry.

Blum has 25 years of principal-oriented hotel investment, acquisition, development, asset management and operational experience. Blum previously was CEO of Doral Hotels & Resorts for five years, and three years as president while at the public division of MeriStar, formerly one of the nation’s largest publicly traded hotel companies. Blum has been instrumental in the acquisition, development, refinance and/or sale of $2+ billion of hotel and resort projects in addition to his asset management and operating responsibilities.

The Chartres Lodging Group, LLC, a San Francisco-based advisory and investment firm focused on the investment, asset management, property management and renovation of high-quality lodging assets.  Chartres Lodging is currently responsible for a $6-billion, 20,000-room portfolio of luxury and upscale hotels, conference centers and resorts located throughout the United States and Japan.
